So, you head out on your vacation and you get a flat tire. You don't have a spare you call for repair and you are told your car will be ready to hit the road again in the next 30 minutes. Great! We take the person at their word. Somehow they are delayed and it takes 45 minutes to repair the tire. In that 15 minutes that you wait for your car to once again be road worthy do you ever think, "My tire will never get repaired! I'm never going to get my car back! I'll never be able to go on vacation!" Of course not you just wait.You are on a scheduled flight to see your family. Bad weather has caused a delay and all flights are cancelled. The airline makes an announcement that they are sorry for the delay but all flights will resume when the weather clears. We trust that the airlines will resume all flights when the weather changes. We never once think the weather won't change we know that eventually the weather will improve and we will board the plane. Do we once say, " I will never get to see my family! The weather will never change! I'll be stuck at the terminal forever!" Of course not you just trust that the airline will resume all flights. It's night time and you arrive home. The house is dark. You flip on the light switch and expect the lights to come on so you can see. Do you once think that while you were gone the electric company moved and they no longer provide electricity for you? Do you flip the switch and expect the electricity not to illuminate your way? Do you ever wonder and say, "Will the lights ever come on again? My house is always going to be dark at night! I'll never be able to watch television again!" Of course not.But sometimes we are like these examples. If we pray and God doesn't answer our prayers quickly we get impatient. We wouldn't leave our cars in the shop if the car wasn't ready "on time" and hitch hike, but we stop waiting for God to answer our prayers and we try to rush the situation. We wouldn't try to walk or run to our destination if the airlines cancelled flights we would be patient. Yet, when God delays situations in our lives we are not patient...we just can't seem to wait for the next flight. We trust that the electricity will turn on when we flip the light switch...so why can't we just trust in the LORD?

and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3: 5-6
