What would make someone speed down a residential street, jump out of a car that has barely come to a stop, double park, block someone's driveway, and even park in someone's driveway?
People that can't wait to go to church? Wouldn't that be nice. No, people that can't wait to get to a garage sale. It is interesting to watch how people behave when they have a goal. They are focused and single minded. The whole purpose for their being, at that particular time, is getting to that sale to see what they can buy.
People will do U-turns when they see a garage sale sign. They will cut people off and they will make some rather abrupt stops just to see what is waiting for them. At this particular time they are not "lukewarm"...they are not "cold"...these people are "hot" on the trail of a garage sale. What other things in our lives are we so enamored with that we would go to these lengths?
If every Christian was on fire for the Word of God, and if we were focused and single-minded like people going to a garage sale, do you think the world might takenotice? After all, I noticed how people go to garage sales...
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you
were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot
nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, 'I am rich;
I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not
realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked"
(Revelation 3:15-17)
