mom would come to share with us. A home that would allow my
mother-in-law to be independent yet still allow her the closeness of
family. About two months into the home building process my husband
lost his job. My mother-in-law had already sold her home in another
state and was renting her home until the house was completed.
The night before my husband lost his job, a friend was at the home
that was being built and said, "Dave, what would you do if you lost
your job?" I quickly told our friend, "The job isn't the
Provider...God is the Provider, and if Dave loses his job everything will
be all right!" The friend replied, "You're right, you're right!" The
next day, Monday, Dave lost his job. I stood in the kitchen...a
whirlwind of "things" flooded my mind, immediately, I said, "Let's go
God...show me what to do"...
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you"...
Feeling so compelled to get into the Word of God, I went to my Bible
and there I read the rest of the scripture... for My power is made
perfect in weakness.” 2Corinthians 12:9
For a few moments I had forgotten the last part of that scripture and
I believe that is why God compelled me to go to His Word and see what
else He had to say to me.
We were weak and powerless. This was a big deal, but God was bigger
than our problem. The home was built and we moved in. God gets all
of the glory. I believe that the things...the trials, that we go
through in life are not about us. I believe the trials we go through
are all about God. How else would or could He work the miracles that
He does in our lives if everything was "perfect" and how else would we
know what He has done? I thank God for the many miraculous, loving
and wonderful things He has done for me and for my family. God is
always on time...He is Perfect and so is His Will.
